I’m adding Friday posts now that will focus around game tips, tricks, and information for newbies. The Monday post will be the newest player interview. I hope this will spark your interest and interaction with me.
Today I am highlighting some helpful websites for you. Since Kingdoms’ live started in 2009, players have really used technology to spread the news about this game.
Some sites are able to build opportunities for exchanging information and letting players learn from one another. Other sites, are really just places a person can post their army code, or add a comment with their code in it! This hasn’t happened yet here, but I wouldn’t be surprised!
So here’s my brief list of helpful websites:
Schellax’s Live Tavern: This personal website was created by a college student with an enterprising spirit. It includes a social networking type site, forums, cost spreadsheets to help you with purchases, and a secret way to involve your pc with your KL character. I’ll say no more! Full disclosure: I’m registered there but get absolutely no money for telling you about the place (unfortunately).
LiveCodes: This site includes links to 15 game folders where you can post your own army code for others to recruit you. Obviously this also means you can see the codes of others. The KL link includes about 73 pages of about 44 codes. If you have lots and lots of patience (and an opposable thumb) you can enter in all 3,204 people whose KL players are represented there.
This is another site dedicated to helping you build your army. Only a 100 codes show at any one time, and there are links to 5 other games. When you put your code in it bumps off the last guy (which I just did, sorry 3vs34). The site also includes those who have donated money for the site’s operation and their codes of course! (No fair that S6QKST gets a permanent advertisement for just $1.00).
Another helpful and official site is
http://forums.storm8.com/forumdisplay.php?f=7
You’ll see a list of topics regarding game suggestions, discussions, and updates. The most popular forum has 6,720 posts which you could easily guess involves posting army codes. This is a good place to interact with players you will probably recognize from the game.
Lastly—but not finally because there are many websites—and I think most importantly is the Leaderboard.
http://klboards.gentavgames.com/main/index.html
This site is a huge resource of information about YOU and peers, enemies, and strangers. A leaderboard is a comparison of players across the game on topics such as “most battles won” or “most gilt crusader’s swords by level” or “highest networth”. When you recruit the player “Leaderboard” into your army (using the code W5W7CH), and post on his wall, he’s written computer code to scroll your information each day and add your vital playing statistics to this website. If you decide to join a clan, you can also register to have yourself included in your clan’s own leaderboard statistic.
I’m curious, however. What sites have you discovered? Any tricks you want to share? If so, please post a comment and let others in on your secrets.
And, finally here’s to the many players that will be participating January 16th in the Kingdoms live gaming event sponsored by the clan EverChosen. If you notice a lot more activity on the Bounty List that day, the “kill-a-thon” is the reason. Let me know if you participated and what it was like. I will be playing with my chums Boomer and Bojangles, so look for us!
As always, tell me your story at generalcandel@gmail.com, make a comment below, or find me in the game.
It's probably not a good idea to write about the "secret way to involve your pc with your KL character". You would have to hack the Storm8 games to get the information needed to play from your PC. I don't think Storm8 likes that. ;)

Good catch Paradox. I am in no way recommending that. I just noted what is on other websites. I'm just saying...

True Paradox -- Storm8 finds out (ie someone doesnt like you and turns you in and they investigate) you run the risk of getting a permanent ban from the game.
