In this next installment I want to add to my growing dictionary of Kingdoms Live terms.
Bounty List – The bounty list is a Storm8 stroke of creative genius for making this game more interactive. Beginning players may not notice this feature at first, but are likely to get introduced very quickly if they anger another player by their own playing style (i.e, “farming”).
The bounty list, also called the BL, or the “hit list,” is used by players who are willing to pay a minimum of 200 of their precious money units to offer up another player to be “killed.” The killing isn’t permanent of course, you just lose health points and are ready to play another day when you are healed enough to do so. The killing does affect a player’s statistics, however.
When you are “killed,” it is recorded under “Deaths” in the My Profile tab of the main menu of your character. The “Kills” list gives the number of times you have successfully won against another player who had been placed on the Bounty List. These statistics and the ratio of kills to deaths are a personal feature to brag about conquests to other players.
Some players actually set a goal to get themselves a lot of “deaths,” or so they make a record of some kind. I never can fathom these players because it doesn’t appear to be of any benefit within the game. Rather, it might only get them higher on a Leaderboard list somewhere. Go figure! Here's a pic of a player that may find himself/herself on the BL with some regularity if I've heard the story correctly from a clan member.
Being on the BL has some advantages as well. When some characters recognize they’ve been listed, decide to heal up quickly so they can “ride the bounty list” or “surf.” I didn’t get this at all until a more experienced player let me know that it could improve your win/loss ratio measure. If you surf the BL and can get more players that whack at you and lose, then you get a “win” registered on your profile. Having more wins can make you look more intimidating to others, thus serving as a type of defense. See how psychology works in this game?
Finally, I wan to note some other quick things. It turns out that the BL becomes a powerful KL social networking tool in a number of ways:
a. everybody can see your deaths/kills right there on your profile and make judgments about you
b. listing a player on the BL registers on that player’s battle tab. They know you have done it and then have a link to you. Can you say “Paybacks”?
c. Groups of players can rally around each other. For example, The game limits to 25 how many times one player can personally list someone on the BL, but doesn’t limit how many times a player can be put up for a bounty. This means if you can convince 10 of your associates to bounty another player the maximum amount, that player will have an additional 250 deaths now registered on their profile.
d. Players can become famous for just being listed but not getting “knocked off.” Some players are just too darned well defended to get killed. A lot of level 200 players (the maximum level right now) are frequently to be found on the BL.
There are plenty more things to say about the BL, but I’ve run out of time and room! I’ll continue to make posts in the weeks to come about KL terms and strategies. I’d like to have an extensive “dictionary” when I’m finished.
What other words would you include in Candel’s New World Dictionary?
Please post your ideas for words and add to some of my definitions by making a comment, by emailing me at generalcandel@gmail.com, or by posting on my KL profile.
And by the way, I hope to NOT see you or be seen myself on the BL anytime soon!
